Ingredients

Sesame Ahi Tuna Steaks

  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • black pepper
  • 2 (6-8 ounce) ahi tuna steaks
  • 6-8 baby bok choy, cut in half
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons white sesame seeds
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons black sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon grapeseed or canola oil
  • cooked rice, for serving
  • scallions for garnish

Dipping Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons rice vinegar

Instructions

Sesame Ahi Tuna Steaks

  1. Mix soy sauce, sesame oil, and some black pepper together in a small bowl. Rub all over both sides of tuna steaks.
  2. Steam bok choy. Place baby bok choy in a pot with 1 inch of water. Steam over high heat for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, mix white and black sesame seeds together and spread out on a plate. Dip tuna steaks to coat both sides with sesame seeds.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear tuna for 1 minute per side. Remove to a cutting board and let rest 5 minutes before serving. (During this time, you can make the dipping sauce.)
  5. Serve tuna steaks with steamed baby bok choy, rice, and dipping sauce. Garnish with scallions.

Dipping Sauce

  1. Mix all sauce ingredients together in a bowl.
